Gbarnga, Bong County – April 16, 2025–The Liberia Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) will hold a one-day training workshop on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Charles Burgess Dunbar Comprehensive Hospital Conference Hall in Gbarnga. This event is part of LMHRA’s ongoing mission to enhance Liberia's National Pharmacovigilance System.

The workshop aims to improve the skills of healthcare professionals in key areas such as pharmacovigilance, reporting Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs), and monitoring medicine safety. Approximately thirty health practitioners from various facilities throughout Bong County are expected to attend.

During a discussion on Super Bongese Radio, Dr. Margaret Massaquoi from the Pharmacovigilance Unit, alongside Dr. Sancee Gray and Dr. Humphrey B. Taylor, both from the Medicines Information Unit at LMHRA, underscored the importance of this training.

The training will cover essential topics, including:

An introduction to pharmacovigilance and its importance

How to identify and report Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs)

Proper use of ADR notification forms and digital reporting systems

The responsibilities of healthcare professionals in ensuring medication safety

They emphasized that enhancing healthcare professionals' knowledge and reporting practices is crucial for minimizing the risks associated with unsafe or counterfeit medications in the market.

The training is taking place in Gbarnga. This initiative is part of LMHRA's broader strategy to promote public health through the regulation and monitoring of medicines and health products in Liberia.
