-Aimed at Strengthening Regulations For Cosmetic Products Sales

The Cosmetic Unit of the Liberia Medicines & Products Regulatory Authority
(LMHRA) has successfully concluded a 10-day cosmetic inspection.

This initiative which commenced on March 20, 2025, aims to ensure that those
who are engaged in the sale of cosmetic products within Monrovia and its
surroundings to comply with regulatory standards.

In line with its mandate under the act that established the LMHRA, the authority
is committed in regulating and registering all health products, including cosmetics,
to promote public health and safety.

The inspection exercise, led by the Manager of the Cosmetic Unit, Mavis Viskinda,
underscored the critical importance of regulating cosmetic products in Liberia.

Madam Viskinda stressed the need to protect consumers from the harmful effects
of unregistered products and emphasized the significance of identifying importers
of cosmetic products to ensure accountability for any potential skincare risks.

She called on citizens and consumers to remain vigilant by checking for the
LMHRA cosmetic certificate, displayed at the entrances of certified cosmetic
shops, before making any purchase.

The exercise took place in key marketplaces, including Red-light, Duala, Sinkor,
Fiamah, Oldroad, Waterside, and Vai Town.

This inspection underscores LMHRA’s commitment to protecting consumers and
ensuring safer cosmetic practices in Liberia.
