(Monrovia, December 2, 2024) – The Managing Director of the Liberia Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA), Hon. Luke L. Bawo, has been recognized with an award from the Impact Africa Clinical Trials Summit (IAS). The award was presented through Dr. Juwe D. Kercula, the LMHRA’s Manager for Clinical Trials, who served as one of the panelists at the summit.
The IAS serves as a vital platform for addressing key issues and trends in pharmaceutical research and development, as well as clinical trials in Africa. The annual conference fosters collaboration between public and private sectors, facilitating valuable networking and information exchange across sub-Saharan Africa. The theme of this year’s summit was: “Expanding the Pharmaceutical Value Chain through Inclusion of Sub-Saharan Africa in Global Clinical Trials.”
In his acceptance of the award, Hon. Bawo expressed gratitude to Dr. Kercula for effectively representing the LMHRA at the conference. He emphasized his commitment to his vision of making the LMHRA more scientifically driven and enhancing the clinical trials ecosystem throughout Africa, a region that currently accounts for only 2% of global clinical trials.
